Caspar Estate Wines
Photogallery rendered here.
Caspar Estate is located above the Rutherford Appellation on a hillside overlooking the Napa Valley. Our grandfather, Caspar Escher purchased property in 1962, as stewards of the land we have revived our old Mission olive grove, planted Italian variety olive trees and organically farmed the land, adding solar panels, predatory bird perches and bee hives.
We planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc grape varietals. With Julien Fayard as our winemaker our philosophy is aligned to produce Caspar Estate as terroir-driven wines.
Caspar Estate is 100% Organic.

This is our first release of Caspar Estate Sauvignon Blanc, an absolutely lovely fresh and luscious wine. The nose offers an instant waft of tropical fruit with Meyer lemon’s perfume. Delicate floral aromas remind you of Spring time in the garden.

The 2015 growing season will be remembered for high quality, but low yields. The Napa Valley started out with unseasonably warm temperatures in the late winter and early spring. This resulted in an early bud break and bloom. Colder temperatures in May-during the peak of bloom-caused uneven fruit set which ultimately resulted in a much smaller crop.

The 2013 Cabernet Franc displays all the characteristics of the stunning 2013 vintage. The wine is a dark and intense purple with dark red undertones. Generous notes of dark cherry, raspberry, plum and cassis are followed by hints of tobacco and mocha. The French oak adds sweetness that brings the aromas together. On the palate, the wine is loaded with cherry and dark red cassis flavors exemplified by the exceptional 2013 vintage. The wine has balanced acid, structured tannins and a long rich finish.
We produced 30 cases of this Estate Cabernet Franc and while it is tempting to it drink now this wine will also improve with age for the next seven to twelve years. 2013 is one of the finest vintages Napa Valley has seen.
