2011 Caspar Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes
2011 was one of the coolest years on record for the Napa Valley and reminded Julien of his training in Bordeaux. Throughout the growing season and harvest, he entertained us with stories of the cool vintages he worked at Lafite that influenced his vision for our 2011. We were treated to beautiful tiny clusters for harvest and produced 176 cases. Our 2011 seduces the senses, starting with your eyes showing dark purple singed with bright red hues on its edges. Once mesmerized, the nose draws you in with black currant and plums and tantalizes with wisps of summers past as subtle rose and violet intertwine with classic cedar, clove, and nuances of cocoa and tobacco. Because the 2011 is quite approachable now, it could be the perfect wine to serve with your holiday meals.
For the optimal experience, we recommend cellaring the 2011 for 3 to 5 years.
