|2012 Vintage Notes||
2012 afforded Napa with an ideal growing season from beginning to end. A mild spring led to a good fruit set, then summer and fall brought warm temperatures without any heat waves. All the fruit enjoyed a long, slow ripening, indicating early that the Cabernet and Cabernet Franc would be dark, rich and age worthy as with the 2001, 2002 and 2007 seasons. The saturation of color is amazing - the wines are almost black, and the Bordeaux varieties are heavy with sweet tannins that are not drying at all. One of the largest harvests on record, the only challenge presented to Cultivar was where to put all the grapes.
|2012 Cultivar Oak Knoll Cabernet Franc||
Our Cabernet Franc comes from the cooler growing region of Oak Knoll in southern Napa, having characteristics typical of wines from The Loire Valley and Bordeaux, France. The 2012 vintage is deep red in color with brightness on the palate. The nose is full of black cherry fruit, violets and roses, with hints of tobacco and pepper. Sweet black cherry fruit flavors are complemented by notes of plum and blueberries, followed by hints of vanilla and Asian spices. This medium-bodied wine is rich yet well-balanced, with a long finish that will keep you coming back for more! It’s the perfect accompaniment for roasted game or rich, Asian-inspired dishes. Drink now through the next 5 years.
