|2013 Vintage Notes||
The 2013 growing season began early, with a warm, dry spring. The weather continued to stay absolutely beautiful all the way through an early harvest. We saw outstanding quality and once again a little larger crop than normal. We are very excited about the 2013 as an outstanding follow up to the 2012 Harvest.
|Oak Knoll Appellation:||
Located south of Yountville in the heart of Napa Valley is Oak Knoll District appellation. The appellation's close proximity to San Pablo Bay results in a climate that is cooler and more moderate than any region in Napa Valley outside of Carneros. With Oak Knoll District Chardonnay’s reputation for a restrained, delicate style, it was only natural for us to look for fruit from this appellation to produce Cultivar's Chardonnay.
|2013 Cultivar Oak Knoll Chardonnay||
Our 2013 Oak Knoll Chardonnay is a pure expression of Chardonnay. At Cultivar, we see ourselves as caretakers of fruit, and we focus on the beautiful fruit that grows in Napa Valley. This Chardonnay delivers fruit on the nose and on the palate taking one back to an age where fresh pies were set on window sills to cool. On the nose the Chardonnay has baked apples, pear and melon notes with nuances of spice and flower aromas. On the palate the wine has beautiful weight and balance, fermented in neutral oak barrels to add just a touch of richness on the palate. The palate delivers more baked apples and a touch of creme brûlée for a beautiful delicate finish. As we roll into Dungness Crab season here in SF, the Cultivar Chardonnay is a perfect match. Drink now and over the next two years.
